Voodoo (2024) was my first major project, which I went into with a one-month free trial of Pro Tools and virtually no experience doing anything for film. It was an incredibly fulfilling experience and how I discovered the love I have for post-production. I let musicality guide my approach to sound design, keeping the concept of phrasing in mind with all my sound effects and backgrounds in order to evoke specific feelings and ideas about what is happening on-screen. The short film went on to be accepted into five different film festivals! (Chicago Horror Film Festival, Santa Monica International Film Festival, Toronto Independent Film Festival, Toronto Shorts International Film Festival, The Unknown Filmmakers Film Festival). I have learned a lot since through my subsequent works and studies, and if I were to have taken it on today there are things that I probably would have done differently. Still, as far as first projects go I am proud of my work!
I spent a year studying Audio Engineering and Production at Trebas Institute, earning the Excellence in Academic Performance Award upon graduating. During my time there I dedicated myself to learning as much as possible from the guidance of established industry professionals. I built up a vast skill set and strong understanding of audio concepts and applications, along the way distinguishing myself in technical ability and passion for the profession.
Since then I have been working freelance in the audio field, mainly focusing on film post-production but taking on roles in various other disciplines including live-stream audio engineering, studio recording, live sound, and location audio. These days I’m still running Pro Tools, although sadly my free-trial period has ended, and I’m also using it in tandem with Ableton Live for my MIDI workflow. My expertise include multitrack studio recording, audio for film and video, MIDI production, live sound, audio editing, mixing, mastering, and beyond. Two fun things about me are that I love to mix and I love to fix!
